2017 was an interesting year for me to say the least, but I’m actually looking forward to 2018. My birthday was yesterday, and I turned 27. I don’t feel it or look it, but I know I’ll be at a better place soon mentally. I graduate in December which means my time at VCU is almost up. I finally got someone to narrate my book Tales From Behind the Counter, and I’ll post when it’s done. I’m trying to finish AngelWitch at least, and all I need to do is write her last two weeks then the rough draft is done. It’s been a wild ride since this semester at VCU we are working with CBS 6, and come the elections I’ll be working in the newsroom. I’ve also given more thought of what I want to do. I’ve been working retail during the weekends, and going to school. It’s left me in a rut in a way. After school I’ll need to start looking for a new job in the field I want. I’ve been getting tired of retail too, and it’s the same old, same old thing. People complain over the stupidest stuff, and are rude too. It’s all been there, done that, and I’m ready for a change. Also been doing a ton of book buying and game playing too. It’s just been a finish school and get my degree then come up with the next steps. Also, save up money for editing my books and cover art. That is all I need to afford anyway since I have Vellum to format my books. Best money I’ve ever spent. In the meantime I’m working on books and writing stories as a journalist in the IPad Journal project at VCU.

School is starting Thursday, and I’ll be part of VCU’s Ipad Journal project which will be exciting. I’ll be help cover the election, and in December I will be graduating VCU with a Bachelors in Mass Communication for Print/Online Journalism.
As for book news I hope to republish The Killer Contract Agency soon, and in the meantime working on finishing the rough draft of AngelWitch. The summer was kind of boring since I spent most of it working and/or depressed. Now it’s a different story and I’ll be ready to tackle my last semester. I’ll be posting the links to my journalism stories on the Journalism tab of my website. It will be interesting too!
I finished writing book 1 a few years ago, and then gave it to a few beta readers which was a huge wake up. I have the makings of a good story I just need to add in details and descriptions in the story. I need to make the characters more believable and make the story really shine. I’m going to add cell phones, and even include her adoptive parents. Luxor and Crystal Crest History is thrown in as well, and Scarlet is a researcher at heart. Hell, I have a whole collection of metaphysical book and creature books to bring my worlds to life. It’s a lot and in doing all the movie watching, television shows, and life in general I’ve made my world more believable. I’m reading more writing related books too in order to develop my craft more since you never stop learning. I recently finished typing a stack of stories going in Tales From Behind the Counter and I put that aside to focus on the rewrite of Scarlet book 1. I need to get that off the ground and into the hands of readers since book 1 is the foundation for book 2. I will include a prologue or something to catch readers up on the book 1 events. I’m learning the importance of branding so you will see cool covers, and the retail one will be updated too. I hope to make this full time instead of part time. I love interacting with readers, and I hope to have more books out in the future.
I live at home, and I’m going to school full time, and I work retail during the weekends. There is a 3 hr gap in between classes, and I use that time to write more. Whenever a class is cancelled like it is today I use that time to write. I always bring my current stories with me wherever I go to work on them in between. I have an Ipad, Smartphone and two laptops. I always keep the latest copy on them and I work on it in between. I have Friday and Saturday off so in between the Southern Women’s show tomorrow and picking up the camera Saturday I will work on my novel. I always have Mondays off so I work on it then as well as filming Youtube videos. I’m working one day this week which really doesn’t bother me. I need the time to write my script for broadcast, and I’m also done with camera work except for my project. Yay! I hated camera work because getting people to be in front of it was a pain, and they kept rejecting it saying they were busy and had to go to class. I’ll also be doing a Youtube video on it for fun since I got it. School is almost over my last day is May 3rd, and my last exam is May 10th. Not too far away…That means I’ll have Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday off to do whatever…Writing will be a priority since I want to take this seriously and I really want it to be my job. I love every aspect of it even the formatting and doing it all by myself. I’ll probably make a better tutorial and film about my experiences self-publishing. I’ll do that this summer. I want to pass on what I know, and it’s really not that bad…I have a desk in my room that I write at and sometimes I do it sitting on my bed. I find the time since I want to write full time which means this summer I need to come up with a plan. I’m weird when it comes to the writing process because I do it by hand with a pen and paper then I type it up. It’s a lot of work so I’m trying to type as I go instead of doing it all at once. I would not change it for the world. It helps me destress and keeps me busy. It’s also a good form of therapy and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I was depressed for a while and lonely getting used to the fact that my boyfriend is away, but after ward I started to get my groove back. I can’t wait to start writing more because of all the plans I have.
Here is my list of works in progress…
AngelWitch is almost done as far as rough draft wise, and I plan on finishing that first. Then Scarlet book 2 is halfway done followed by some of book 3. Still planning out Fur and Fang of Love. Behind the Counter is going to be a collection of stories about my time working in retail, and I’ll have to go through the notebooks for it. Some are at various stages like I’m waiting on a few betas for book 1 in the Scarlet series. I hope to be done with those by the end of this year if I’m lucky. That and I’m going to make a post about audiobooks and where to buy them since I’ll have them out too.
It has been a while since I have updated my blog, and there is not any major news yet. I’m still working on various projects, and the first Scarlet book is actually in the middle of the first draft. The second book I’m 8 chapters in for that draft, and I’m working on the second retail novel. It’s been a long summer due to working and writing. Things are pretty much normal now since I’ve been slowly getting my life back together, and I start school this month which means things will be the busy chaos I love. I miss school since it kept me busy throw in work and writing and I always had something to do. I have been reading more ebooks and books, and working on writing exercises. It is hard to come up with 1,000 words based on images. I can do it though, and I have learned more lessons this summer then I have any other since I’ve gained more then I’ve lost. It was a wild ride too, and I have talked to more people then ever. I love hearing their stories, and their pasts. Everyone has one, and it makes them who they are. People are interesting to me, and I enjoy life now that I’m not miserable. I will update this more as I go along because once my writing picks up more, and I am able to publish more books I will definitely have more to talk about. Right now its all about taking notes, and writing while waiting for VCU to start.
It has been a month since I wrote a blog post. I have been busy since school started back up, and it is more work than last semester. No big deal since I am used to the work load by now. As for the novella news I am getting the last of my edits in, and then I will be ready in a few weeks to publish again. This time I can tell it will turn out better since I have a good team with me, and I hope you all enjoy it. I do have the outline for the next two Scarlet books. They will take place in college instead of high school. I am happy to say I only have two more stories to edit before I can publish a paperback! Yay! I will have more time to work on everything during the summer, so I am definitely looking forward to it.
